Description
I was walking along the route through Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge and some gorgeous flowers caught my eye. In my effort to photograph them, I suddenly noticed an odd pattern behind one of the flowers. It was the tail of this iguana! Imagine my shock when I looked up and saw this beastie in the branches above me! In Florida they are an invasive species and do a lot of damage to banks along waterways. As with many invasive species in Florida, they were probably released into the wild by pet owners and proliferated quite well in the perfect habitat for them. There are numerous programs afoot to rid areas of them, particularly in the Everglades. And yet there is a certain beauty to them.
