Description
Rocky Mountain National Park is an amazing place. I took this image at the top of the world - 12,000 feet - after REALLY huffing my way up the Alpine Ridge Trail from the road that bisects the park. Having lived at sea level for the past 50 years, that was no small feat. It rises more than 200 feet in less than 3/10 of a mile, which is why it has earned the nickname "Huffers Hike". It was worth the effort because at the top, I felt I had literally reached heaven - or at least could reach up and touch it. The clouds are so very close. I was fortunate to make the top late in the afternoon when the light was slicing through the clouds of an ominous impending storm. Which made for some amazing images.
