We don't usually think of lilies and papyrus in the same image, but papyrus is actually a wetland sedge and grows near or at the edges of water. We usually connect it with the Nile River in Egypt where papyrus was first used for a writing material among other things. In this image, I liked the way the laciness of the papyrus off set the solidity of the lily pad leaves. Amongst all that green, the pink lilies provide a welcome punch of color.
