Description
An upright Florida heliconia bloom exuding a sense of intrigue and secrecy by hiding behind leaf stems. I enjoy working with my images to render them into a more painterly style - in this instance, in the style of some of Monet's paintings.
There are 194 differnt kinds of Heliconia. Some varants look like colorful lobster claws; others resemble bird of paradise flowers and are called false bird of paradise. Most of the 194 known species are native to the tropical Americas. Many species of Heliconia are found in the tropical forests of these regions. Several species are widely cultivated as ornamentals, and a few are naturalized in Florida,
